CESIO reaction to the proposal for a regulation on detergents and surfactants
In reaction to the proposal for a regulation on detergents and surfactants, originally published by the European Commission in April of 2023, CESIO has been highlighting the urgent need for various improvements and technical clarifications to ensure that the regulation of surfactants that are used in detergents remains fit for purpose and delivers the intended results. Surfactants, which are already regulated under existing legislation, are raw material chemicals used in B2B transactions in the formulation of finished products, including but not limited to detergents. CESIO to host webinar on 1,4-dioxane
CESIO is hosting a webinar on 20 November 2024, to share the results of a socio-economic analysis (SEA) linked to a possible restriction on 1,4-dioxane in surfactants. 1,4-dioxane is found as an impurity in a number of ethoxylate non-ionic and anionic surfactants. The webinar will investigate and discuss the impact of an eventual restriction for the surfactant industry and several major downstream using industries, using two restriction scenarios as a basis, with the desire to exchange knowledge and learnings in advance of the restriction proposal, which is expected to be published by the German authorities in October 2025.
