October 2025 – APAG-CESIO Statement on the EU Deforestation Regulation Delay

On 23 September, the European Commission shared its intention to delay the EUDR by 12 months. APAG & CESIO, two sector groups of Cefic representing the European oleochemicals and surfactants industries, have issued a statement noting that any such delay must be used to deliver a well-functioning Information System, provide clear guidance on implementation across Member States, simplify requirements to ensure proportionality and workability, and finalise the Annex I scope revision, closing the loopholes that currently set an unlevelled playing field and put the sectors’ competitiveness at risk. The statement also supports enhancing engagement with producing countries regarding documentation to show compliance.  For more details, please read the full statement in our document library.
