Membership of CESIO is open to any company manufacturing and marketing surfactants, or their organic intermediates, in at least one European country. Membership applications are approved by the CESIO Executive Committee, subject to membership criteria being met.

Types of membership
- Through a National Association (8 countries across Europe)
- Direct membership – individual companies
- Associate membership (for companies that do not have a National Association in their country)
